Team Composition: Students may
compete individually or in teams. Teams are allowed to have a
maximum of five students. The team members must be enrolled in a
full-time or part-time undergraduate program in a recognized Canadian university. Each group can have one student that is from one of senior programs, but this person cannot be the leader.
Work Originality: The business
plan must be work of the members of the team, and it must be
original.
Nature of venture: The
competition is for new, independent ventures in the seed, start-up
or early stage. Generally excluded are the following: buy-outs,
expansions of existing companies, real estate syndications, tax
shelters, franchises, licensing agreements for distribution in a
different geographical area, and spin-outs from existing
corporations. The licensing from universities or research labs of
technologies that have not been commercialized previously is not
excluded.
Prior activity: Ventures with
revenues in prior academic years are excluded. The history of a team
member working on an idea or new technology in previous academic
years or even prior to entering graduate school does not exclude a
venture, if there were no revenues prior to the current academic
year.
Registration Fee: Registration fee is $35. You may bring a cheque to any prepration workshop
